What Is Club Style Dancing
First of all, it’s not ballroom and it’s
not country. Club-style dancing is
danced on small intimate dance floors to jazz, blues, swing, Latin, or retro
music (music of the 60s, 70s, & 80s).
It is also often referred to as downtown-style dancing. The main components are swing, Latin,
one-step, and close embrace. It’s less
structured than ballroom and allows for more freedom of expression. It gives the dancers greater opportunity to
create and show their own individual style.
…And knowing how to dance “can set you
free.” Louis Armstrong once said,
“There ain’t but two kinds of music: good music and bad music, and the good
music makes you want to move, makes you want to dance,” so, when you are
sitting at a table, and the music is so good you just can’t sit still, you can
do something about it – you can get up and dance.
